For years now,
Airknives have been used to provide Low Pressure
– High Velocity Air for drying/removing moisture
from the surface of both PET and Glass Bottles.
The problem most line operators were faced with
though, was that a small change in the angle of
attack (impingement angle of air exiting the airknives)
significantly reduced the dryness of the bottles.
This then resulted in production problems including
but not limited to labeling problems and packaging
problems. Additionally, if there were two different
bottle sizes or shapes, it took a long time to readjust
the airknives. Just as important was the fact that
guide rails interrupted airflow onto bottles, and
there was a lack of control of spray direction and
water spray was not contained.
